Onigiri is a traditional Japanese dish. It’s made from white rice, formed into a round, oval or triangular shape and often wrapped in a sheet of nori.
This recipe is trying to introduce Onigiri with a twist. Instead of adding a filling, our variations let you taste Onigiri from the outside and introduces fresh colors to this dish.
Onigiri is excellent conserved and portable food. Easy to eat by hand, it’s a popular part of a “Bento” (lunch box) or picnic in Japan. There are plenty of ways to make your original Onigiri, you can explore with mixed rice or fill them with any ingredient that you can imagine. Often we remember Onigiri homemade with a mother’s flavor. It’s such a simple dish. Even by using the same ingredients, every Onigiri tastes different, depending on who made it.
Enjoy this soul food!
